Fast food group KFC has launched a pop-up concept store at Canal Walk shopping centre in Cape Town as it looks to celebrate the city’s cultural dishes. Kentucky Town, will operate out of Canal Walk’s food court from July 7 to July 17 2022. Over these 11 days, KFC will honour its ‘Original 11 Herbs and Spices Secret Recipe’.
“For 11 mouth-watering days we’ll be serving up a hot new limited-edition menu with some KFC meals that you’ve never seen before and may never see again,” the group said on Wednesday.
The Kentucky Town Cape Town menu will include meals from KFC’s original pop-up store such as the Doughnut Zinger Burger and Spicy Chips, flavoured with Tabasco, and limited edition items. These are the KFC Gatsby as well as KFC Chachos, Simba Crunch Zinger Wings, Kentucky Fried Oreos with soft serve and a Midnight Mojito.
Retailers are using concept stores to entice South Africans back to the shops now that Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted. Hyprop Investments, which owns Canal Walk, Hyde Park Corner, Cape Gate, has said it will increase the “shopper-tainment” at its malls especially super regional centres like Canal Walk.
