It seems Cape Town can look like anywhere in the world; at least in the eyes of Hollywood.
A wild west series called 1923 is being filmed in the fishing village of Kalk Bay, on the coast of False Bay. The harbour will be closed for a few days while star talent descends on the popular tourist and weekend spot. Kalk Bay is adorned with coffee shops, souvenir stores and restaurants.
But who are the stars? Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, two of the most renowned actors of their time are starring in the series. Ford played the likes of Han Solo and Indiana Jones while Mirren played Queen Elizabeth II, Mrs Tingle in Teaching Mrs Tingle and Sofya Tolstoy in The Last Station. Ford will star as family patriarch Jacob Dutton and Mirren will play his wife Cara in 1923.
1923 is a prequel to the Yellowstone series and is a follow-up to 1883, a series that starred Sam Elliott and the couple: Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
Maybe Ford or Mirren will buy an apartment which they can use as an Airbnb? The property industry can only hope so.
