Apex, a multinational tenant is moving into Sasol Place; one of the most hi-tech, high-end offices in all of Sandton, Gauteng’s commercial hub.
Apex, a global financial services provider, said this week it had acquired the business operations of Maitland International, an international fund services provider. It would now move into offices across SA, including Sasol Place, which was built to house chemicals and fuels giant, Sasol.
Apex said in a release that Maitland provided a range of fund services including fund administration, transfer agency and management company services for 120 direct investment managers and 25 fund sponsors, totaling more than $17bn in assets under management.
It said Maitland’s clients would benefit from access to Apex’s single-source solution and services such as global compliance, ESG ratings and banking.
Maitland’s 570 employees will join Apex, expanding the group’s existing presence in the UK, Guernsey and Luxembourg, and will grow its recently established footprint in SA. Apex recently bought Sanne Group and added 500 employees in Cape Town, with the addition of Maitland doubling this headcount to close to 1 000 people.
Apex also plans to hire more than 500 new staff in the Sasol Place office over the next year, to deliver its single-source solution to a global client base of asset managers, capital markets, private clients and family offices. he Sasol Place Building is a 5 Star Green Star Design V1 development which was designed by Paragon Architects.
