Hotel Sky Sandton looking for a buyer

Hotel Sky Sandton is up for sale. Property Flash had this confirmed by an unnamed source. The top-end asset will soon have a new owner as will Hotel Sky in Cape Town.

The Johannesburg hotel which opened with 453 rooms in November 2020, during the pandemic, is located at 150 West Street, Sandton. It is considered to lie at one of the best addresses in Sandton, being walking distance from Sandton City shopping centre and Sandton Convention Centre. The hotel is privately owned but could soon see itself in the hands of the likes of Southern Sun Hotels which owns hotels across the country.

Hotel Sky Sandton uses trendy amenities to attract guests and visitors. It has a baby grand piano which is programmed to play music as well as robots which carry luggage and act as concierge. It also has numerous entertainment areas, eating spots and bars. Its rooftop offers a stunning view of Sandton.

Property Flash is eager to find out the asking price. Property Flash approached Paul Kelley, spokesperson for both hotels. He said that as a private company, he was approached from time to time about the business’ performance and if it was for sale. His team would consider offers like any other private business would. Kelley said the hotels’ staff had retained full salaries and their jobs throughout Covid-19 and subsequently and every person was valued by the hotels.
