JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

In another sign that Parktown is out of vogue for office dwellers, KPMG South Africa is relocating its Joburg leased office from there, its base for nearly three decades, to Sandton in May 2027.

The move follows an agreement between Accelerate Property Fund and Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), under which RMA will acquire 100% of the issued share capital in Wanooka Properties for R385m. Wanooka owns KPMG Crescent and the adjacent parkade at 85 Empire Road.

KPMG said in a statement that the transaction is “a standard commercial property asset sale and will not affect its long-term tenancy, local operations or professional service delivery before the relocation”.

The firm said its new Sandton office will provide a modern workspace designed to support evolving work practices, collaboration and an enhanced experience for employees and clients.

Wanooka and KPMG have agreed that the current lease will end on 30 April 2027, with KPMG to remain fully operational. Sandton is Gauteng’s most developed office area but Waterfall is trying to compete with it.
