Dan Bilzerian, a man famous for being famous, has rented one of Cape Town’s most luxurious properties: The Iron Man Villa. The poker player and Instagram influencer reportedly rented out the extravagant property at a ridiculous R300 000 a night when he came to SA earlier in late September.
Bilzerian runs the company Ignite International Brands, which sells electronic cigarettes, CBD oils, bottled water, vodka and other things.
He went on various safaris and attended rave party, H20 as a celebrity guest. He also threw a couple of parties and charged upwards of R6000 a ticket.
That’s small change for Bilzerian. The celeb is reportedly worth $310m, having been a trust fund kid growing up. Did he get bang for his buck? It’s debatable but beyond all kinds of features, the Iron Man House, located on Clifton’s Nettleton Ridge, offers incredible views of Clifton’s beaches, the 12 Apostles mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean.
The Iron Man House sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms. It was designed by Peerutin architects and inspired by the works of former American architect, John Launtner who worked on the US’ west coast. Launtner designed expansive, lateral concrete properties, many of which were perched on clifftops with breathtaking views. These homes served as the backdrop for films, including Bond films and Iron Man’s home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because of the size of existing rock formations and to maximize 270 degree views, this Peerutin project in Cape Town, needed to be divided into two wings. The Iron Man House is divided into four levels, and the interior and outdoor areas are seamlessly integrated.
It includes a central living area, a spa, a theatre, a left wing, a pavilion for entertainment, and two pods. The various sections are connected via two elevators and a glass-floored passage. On the lower levels, there is a large garage, an indoor pool, and an office and on the upper levels, there are two disc-shaped entertainment spaces with raked glass windows. The owners used smokey glass, copper, Brazilian rosewood, white terrazzo, and flamed Kalahari sandstone.
Bilzerian is controversial for pulling stunts and his legal issues. In 2014, he sued the producers of the film, Lone Survivor. His lawsuit stated that he invested $1m in the film in exchange for at least eight minutes of screen time and 80 words of dialogue, but his role was later reduced to less than one minute and just one line. His lawsuit demanded $1.2m but it was later dropped, and Bilzerian said he generated $1.5m in revenue.
In August 2014, Bilzerian was banned from a Miami nightclub for kicking model Vanessa Castano in the face during a brawl. Bilzerian stated that Castano and another woman attacked Bilzerian’s female companion. Also in 2014, Bilzerian was involved in a legal battle with pornographic actress, Janice Griffith. Griffith was featured in a photoshoot with Bilzerian for Hustler magazine in April of that year, which involved Bilzerian throwing her off the roof of a house and into a pool. Griffith fell short of the pool, hitting the edge, and broke her foot.
