In this episode, greening businesses and how the built environment relates to sustainability are featured. Alistair and Michael talk with Tshegofatso Raphala, Lead Specialist: Strategy and Planning at Liberty Two Degrees, and Peter Clark from REdimension Capital.
Liberty Two Degrees owns portions of some of SA’s top-end malls. It recently achieved net zero waste. Clark and his team raised more than $10m for their inaugural fund, the REdimension Real Estate Technology and Sustainability Fund I. Founded in 2021 by Clark and Matt Marshall, the REdimension Real Estate Technology and Sustainability Fund I invests in startups that are building solutions to digitise the real estate sector. With an eye on promoting sustainability, the firm also plans to back startups that promote energy efficiency, and lower carbon footprint.
REdimension Capital, in partnership with RMB and the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA), recently published an ESG PropTech Report called “Building the Future” which explores the dynamic intersection of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles with PropTech, serving as a critical resource for advancing sustainability in South Africa’s real estate sector.
The discussion considers the Green Building Council of SA (GBCSA)’s recent summit held in Cape Town and Trump’s electoral victory.
