The Attacq Foundation has announced the launch of its latest initiative, “Building Brilliance, Block by Block” a classroom renovation campaign that aims to transform learning conditions for over 400 students at Phuthumani Primary School in Thembisa. Attacq is a JSE-listed landlord which owns numerous properties across Waterfall City and elsewhere.
Guided by its overarching vision to transform and help the communities in which we operate by investing in education, training, essential goods, and economic development the Attacq Foundation said it would not just funding brick-and-mortar upgrades. It is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive, educated, and prosperous South Africa.
“Bright minds deserve bright spaces,” said Danny Vermeulen, spokesperson for the Attacq Foundation. “By renovating classrooms, we’re enabling learners to thrive and communities to grow. It’s more than just infrastructure.”
Attacq invites the private sector and broader public to co-invest and build with us” in a project that delivers lasting impact. Through structured sponsorship tiers, contributors will be part of a powerful transformation, block by block.
“This campaign directly aligns with Attacq’s strategic pillar of ‘Thriving Communities” Vermeulen explains. “We are not just donors, we are co-creators of sustainable change. When a school is strengthened, the entire community is empowered to thrive.”
In March 2025, the Department of Basic Education reported to the National Council of Provinces that South Africa faces a staggering infrastructure backlog in public schools; these deficits pose daily risks to learners. It was said that more than 8,200 schools required additional classrooms. This reality underscores why the “Building Brilliance, Block by Block” campaign is so vital. it’s about restoring dignity, enabling opportunity, and constructing environments where learners can flourish.
