For years, to install a lift in your home probably required you to be a secret agent or a business magnate. Import and installation took many months and maintenance was expensive. But recently, top minds have developed mobility technology so that all sorts of people have access to quality lift solutions.
Paramount among these is Lifta SA, the South African leader in home lifts and mobility solutions. Established in 2007, Lifta SA is the South African subsidiary of family-owned German company, Liftstar GmbH. Its initial focus was on a stairlift product, but Lifta SA’s full focus now is the sale and installation of this Home Lift range.
Managing director of Lifta SA, Kyle Kristal, explains that Liftstar has found sustained success in South Africa, its first African market.
Lifta SA is a proudly South African group which employs an assortment of talented and driven local staff. Choosing to specialise in Home Lifts has paid dividends.
“Due to the increasing demand and desire for the product, we now focus entirely on the home lift market. Our products have been well-received because they are of a world-class quality and we are able to deliver reliable, dedicated and efficient service,” Kristal says.

Trio Home Lift
A product for everybody
Lifta SA serves a diverse range of customers, while it guarantees its high standards of service and maintains its position as a market leader.
“Our Home Lifts are used by a wide range of customers. These include the elderly for who the stairs at home are a challenge and the wealthy who are either future proofing their home or just looking for a great alternative on a commercial lift for their homes. Our lifts are also used by our customers to transport their groceries and luggage to different rooms within their homes. Customers also install our lifts for their elderly parents that live with them or wheelchair users within their family,” Kristal says.
Lifta SA’s products are far more affordable than usual commercial residential home lifts and are accessible to a variety of homeowners and not only to residential developers or living estates.
“Not only is the lift itself more affordable, but our clients can save hundreds of thousands of rands as there is no need to install a shaft and there is no necessity for a motor room or pit. The lift works by way of a normal 220v plug and therefore expensive three-phase power is not required. The exact cost of every installation will depend on the scope of the final installation,” says Kristal.
Because of their minimal power usage, Home Lifts can operate by way of a regular inverter and solar power.
World Class Technology
Lifta SA is the exclusive distributor of the Stiltz Home Lift product in SA. Stiltz is an award-winning UK-based lift company which offers a wide variety of innovative and unique home lifts specifically for use in double-storey homes.

Trio Home Lift
This discreet and elegant range of Home Lifts for homes offers smooth and quiet travel between floors on self-supporting slim rails. No hydraulics or supporting walls are needed, and a Home Lift plugs straight into a normal domestic power socket.

Strong selling points
Home Lifts also allow for a person to use them independently without having to be helped on and off by a family member or carer which is one of the downsides of a stair lift. The other issue with a stair lift is that it can block up the stairwell and look imposing and industrial. It can also signal that someone has a disability or is elderly which may be considered an invasion of privacy. Home Lifts can carry numerous people at the same time.
A strong selling point for Lifta SA’s Home Lifts is how quick installation process is. The company always has stock of their Home Lifts at its warehouses in Cape Town and Johannesburg, ensuring that the Home Lifts are immediately available, which compares very favourably to other lift companies who need to have each lift ordered and built to spec which can take as long as six months.
“Our lifts are installed within two days by our team of two technicians and we have often installed a lift within seven days of the initial assessment. there is a seven-day turnaround from contacting us to taking their first trip in their lift,” says Kristal.
The Home Lifts must be serviced annually and come with a service and maintenance plan at an additional charge.
“We hold all the necessary parts to ensure a very quick turnaround time should any repairs be needed. Our lifts enjoy a 12-month warranty from date of installation,” Kristal says.
Lifta SA offers two varieties of Home Lift: the Duo and Trio Home Lift. The Duo, capable of carrying two passengers, has the smallest footprint on the residential market of just 0.8m2 and a weight capacity of 170kg. The wheelchair-friendly Trio’s footprint is only 1.3m2 and it has a weight capacity of 250kg. It can carry as many as three people from one floor to another.
Customers who buy the Trio Home Lift may add a double door to their lift which adds more convenience and accessibility. This feature called the ThruCar kit, is enabled through shaftless and dual rail technology which allows for doors on both sides of the lift. A person can enter and exit from either side of the lift. This is a notable advantage in homes where space and layout could restrict standard entry and exit points, providing a practical solution without compromising on the style and look of the Home Lift.
Due to their size and no need for a shaft, these Home Lifts can be installed almost anywhere within a home, including bedrooms, entertainment areas, kitchens, tucked into corner, in the turn of a suitcase, in a closet, or a garage.

Duo Home Lift
The Home Lift range uses lighting to improve the ambience in the lift. Custom interior lights can create a soft and warm glow, or they can be adjusted to higher brightness. Lifta SA can install interior lights of any colour.
A superb feature of the Home Lift is that can also be installed retrospectively, after your house has been built, and even after you have been living in it for several years.
The Home Lifts can also be customised in terms of their look. Lifta SA offers vinyl wrapping. You can transform the exterior of your Home Lift to match or complement your home’s interior design or can stand out with a bright and colourful design.
Whether you’re looking for a sleek, modern finish, a pattern that echoes your home’s architectural style, or a vibrant colour that makes a statement, vinyl wrapping adds a strong touch.
Home Lifts can blend in and function as tools of convenience or stand-out with an artistic quality.
Lifta SA is setting the standard in home lift product distribution, installation, service and maintenance. This is a trusted and reliable South African company helping to make customers’ home lives more comfortable.
