Devmark Property group is bringing its retirement excellence to the idyllic village of Kommetjie

Construction is underway on Imhoff Manor Retirement Estate, the first development in the Southern Peninsula to join Devmark Property Group’s Retirement Collection.

This multi-million Rand exclusive retirement village is a stunning addition to the picturesque small town of Kommetjie. When completed, this esteemed new development will join a distinguished portfolio including well-managed and popular retirement villages such as Clé de Cap, Legato, Heritage Manor, Onrus Manor, La Vie Est Belle, Villa Cortona, and more recently Helderberg Manor, The Plettenberg Manor, and Langebaan Manor.

Perched adjacent to the charming village of Kommetjie and nestled in the heart of the Imhoff Lifestyle Estate, the development is accompanied by breathtaking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, Noordhoek wetlands, Chapman’s Peak, and Hout Bay.

Kommetjie is growing in popularity on a daily basis as people look to live in a stunning area with access to beautiful beaches. These beaches tend to be quieter and more rustic than others in Cape Town. House prices have risen in Kommetjie as a wider variety of people including by age group move there compared with decades past.

Jean Ehlers, Residential Development Director of Devmark Property Group says Imhoff Manor is testament to Devmark’s impressive track record as a developer.

“We’re extremely excited about Imhoff Manor, which will be our tenth retirement development. Kommetjie has become an immensely popular town for people seeking a relaxed lifestyle away from the city centre, but still want to live nearby. It’s the perfect area for retirement, with beaches and nature on your doorstep, lots of activities and a peaceful, relaxed lifestyle with a low crime rate, surrounded by a vibrant community,” he says.

Phase one of this development, featuring 28 freehold homes, is scheduled to welcome residents by 2026. These architecturally designed luxury homes start at 141m², with prices starting at R3.550m. Each spacious home offers two or three bedrooms along with large patios. A range of high-quality finishes and optional extras are available to suit your unique style. The development also boasts outstanding communal amenities including a clubhouse, swimming pool, and top-notch 24-hour manned security.

The Retirement Collection is focused on offering retirees a top-class and secure lock-up-and go lifestyle. Ehlers explains that Devmark is committed to excellence. The group has decades of development experience which sets it apart from its competition.

During the early and mid-1990s, there was a large mostly unprovided for gap in the market for retirement estates. The trend up until then was the development of “old age homes” and Devmark pioneered estate living for senior citizens to a large extent.

“Our residents lead active lives and desire modern, low-maintenance units equipped with hi-tech security, garden and house cleaning services, affordable levies, as well as other amenities to ensure peace of mind and a stress-free lifestyle,” Ehlers says.

When selecting the perfect retirement location, access to medical services is a vital consideration. “Healthcare services are designed to prioritise the overall wellbeing of residents, offering peace of mind and comfort,” he says.

Devmark also has a unique stance on pets which draws residents to its impressive estates.

“Including pets enriches our lives in myriad ways. Research suggests retired pet owners often have lower baseline heart rates and blood pressure, with quicker recovery from stress compared to those without pets. Moreover, pet ownership fosters physical activity, alleviates loneliness, and bolsters mental well-being by diminishing stress and fostering social interaction. Pets offer priceless companionship, joy, and abundant opportunities for enhancing both our physical and mental health. Personally, I can’t envision my life without my dogs, and nor should our retirees,” says Ehlers.

The retirement estate industry has gained tremendous momentum in recent years and the level of competition among developers has risen sharply. Despite this, Devmark has stood out as a reliable and world-class company. People know they can trust Devmark and stick by the group.

“While in the mid-90s and to early 2000s, Devmark was one of only a handful of developers developing retirement estates, the market has now become very competitive. Devmark however still develops in accordance with the Retired Persons Act, and do not attempt to circumvent the act like many other developers do,” says Ehlers.

Devmark’s model includes freehold and sectional title properties.

In its overall development pipeline, there are six living estates which are in various stages of being rolled out. Two of these are retirement estates.

“With over 32 years of property development excellence, Devmark’s Retirement Collection is committed to providing residents with top tier living standards,” says Ehlers.

“We have more than 3,000 retirees enjoying contented lives in our developments. Our residents are active, sociable, and savour every moment. Imhoff Manor will be no different,” he says.
