In May 2024, Attacq, the JSE-listed Real Estate Investment Trust (Reit), which owns numerous assets in Waterfall City announced the completion of the precinct’s latest logistics development. This new development features three warehouses and ancillary offices, focused on addressing the rising demand for premium, custom-built logistics spaces.

Waterfall City is expanding its Logistics Hub to offer growth opportunities for tenants. According to Attacq, it “serves as a magnet for economic development, providing a competitive edge and world-
class infrastructure”.

Waterfall City welcomed Jetour South Africa, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jetour Auto. This is an addition to the business hub, with Jetour set to start operations in August 2024. Jetour is a Chinese automobile manufacturer.

Jetour South Africa will manage new car sales and after-sales service for the Jetour brand, introducing the first right-hand drive models to the South African market in the third quarter of 2024.

Jacky Chen, general manager of Jetour’s international business, said: “We are excited to
join Waterfall City, a location that embodies innovation and growth. Our presence here
underscores our commitment to providing exceptional service and forging strong
partnerships in South Africa.”

Debbie Theron, Attacq’s head of asset and property management – mixed use said: “We
are thrilled to announce the exciting arrival of Jetour South Africa in Waterfall City. This
marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to build an exceptional logistics hub that
is tailored to the ever-evolving requirements of modern businesses.”

These newly completed warehouses range between 4,400 square metres and 5,319
square metres in size. Attacq says they will offer several benefits designed to appeal to small and medium-sized businesses looking to expand their local footprint. The Waterfall City Logistics Hub provides excellent visibility and access to the N1 highway and other major arterial routes.

Other logistics hub tenants include: Cotton On, Vantage Data Centres, Cummins, Plumblink, Zimmer Biomet and Massbuild.

The development’s environmental sustainability features include:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting
  • Performance glass to reduce HVAC usage
  • Low-flow sanitary fittings to minimise water consumption
  • Roofing designed for solar panel installation
  • The use of low VOC paints, recycled steel, dual flush toilet actuators, rainwater harvesting compatibility, and a backup water supply
  • Cummins, Plumblink, Zimmer Biomet and Massbuild.
