JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

This week Thursday February 19, Broll: Auctions and Sales will host its first live auction of the year.

The company enjoyed a highly successful 2025, in which it brought buyers and sellers together to complete best-in-industry deals at attractive prices. A mix of trophy assets, properties with undeniable potential and well-located land parcels were sold. In 2026, Broll’s auction team remains committed to using this method of sale to serve its clients and to drive deal activity. Deals can be completed more quickly than traditional means. The new owners of the assets may redevelop and improve these properties for better use which improves the customer experiences for shoppers at retail centres and petrol service stations. When offices and apartments receive specialist management, their tenants benefit.

Broll’s upcoming commercial and residential auction will be held at The Wanderers Golf Club in Illovo, Johannesburg from 12pm.

Some 29 lots will be taken to auction by Broll Auctions and Sales which has a proven track-record of over 45 years. The assets are across a range of classes and located nationally. These include a high-quality Astron Energy fuel site which is located in Malmesbury Western Cape, development-ready land with a KFC drive-thru and the ear of national retailers, a premium showroom hub in Centurion, numerous industrial facilities in Gauteng, an MBT fuel station in Mpumalanga, a versatile industrial and retail property in Alberton Gauteng, a function venue and development opportunity in 1000 hills Durban, a prime mixed-use building on Commissioner Street Marshalltown, a retail centre in Birch Acres Gauteng, the Ithaba Falls guest farm in Lydenburg Mpumalanga, a guesthouse in Wilderness Western Cape and, a rare asset type to come to auction; the Dominican Sisters Convent school in Jeppestown Johannesburg.

Sales director Jayson-lee Collins explains that auctions as a method of sale have gone beyond being focussed on urgent sales, liquidations and deceased estates. Broll is working with this momentum and growing.

“Sellers are using the auction platform to realise real value in their properties from the real market timing value. Last year was an excellent year for us where we grew strongly. Our staff also grew by 25% which helps us to do more deals. We are selling more stock and have staff operating from Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal,” he says.

“The beauty of auctions is that they reveal the value of property in the market and who they are. There is a buyer for everything. We took Ponte City Towers in Johannesburg and the Carvers Restaurant to market last year. People are interested in a mix of asset opportunities. They realise that the stock is chosen for its quality and do their due diligences accordingly. These are cash deals and the buyers get their finding ready from the bank,” says Collins.

Broll’s edge is supported by local and international technology including AI tools and software, a mix of talent in terms of skill and experience and delivering an excellent service, Collins explains.

“We are bringing some of the best assets we ever have to first auction for the year. The momentum in the market is evident and it’s impressive to see such high quality stock available early on in 2026,” he says.

Auctions are adaptive to market conditions, Collins explains. He says when markets are thriving buyers show more relative interest in deals compared with when markets are more downbeat, sellers show more interest.

“We are very excited and optimistic about this week’s auction and the year ahead as we look to provide world-class services to our clients and to drive property deals across our country,” says Collins.
