ZAP HUB founder Bronwyn Rodrigues has announced her candidacy for Ward 95 in the City of Johannesburg as a councillor for Know Your Power (KYP) in the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Rodrigues says her campaign is driven by a commitment to improve service delivery, create opportunities, and restore dignity to communities that have experienced decades of neglect.
Ward 95 includes Diepsloot, Diepsloot West, Diepsloot Agricultural Holdings, Tanganani and surrounding agricultural areas.
“More than 30 years into our democracy, many residents of Diepsloot and neighbouring communities still lack access to the basic services and opportunities they deserve. Communities cannot continue to be overlooked while promises remain unfulfilled. It is time for practical leadership that delivers measurable results,” said Rodrigues.
Rodrigues is joined by fellow KYP candidates Shaun Mulligan, a director of ZAP HUB, who is contesting Ward 96, and Solomon Chuene, who is contesting Ward 113.
Ward 96 includes Dainfern, Chartwell, Steyn City, Farmall, Bloubosrand, Kya Sands, Riverside View and Cosmo City East.
Business-Led Solutions for Community Development
Rodrigues believes that economic development and effective partnerships between communities, businesses and local government are essential to improving the quality of life for residents.
“ZAP HUB is headquartered in Fourways, one of Johannesburg’s most developed areas, yet only a short distance away are communities that continue to struggle with inadequate infrastructure and poor service delivery. That contrast should not exist. We believe the private sector can become a meaningful partner in rebuilding communities alongside responsible local government.”
She has also called on residents to register and vote.
“Every election provides an opportunity for change, but change is only possible when people participate. Greater voter registration and higher voter turnout give communities a stronger voice in determining their future.”

“This creates value for everyone. Communities receive much-needed support, businesses receive meaningful exposure without additional marketing costs, and long-term partnerships are established that benefit local economic development.”
She added that this initiative is designed to encourage greater corporate social investment while giving businesses a practical incentive to become involved in uplifting communities.
Addressing Service Delivery and Employment
Rodrigues believes that many of Johannesburg’s service delivery challenges can be addressed by creating opportunities for local residents to participate in maintaining and improving their own communities.
“Residents are frustrated by poor service delivery, rising unemployment and a lack of opportunities. Many people are willing to work and contribute to improving their neighbourhoods if they are given the chance. We believe communities should become active partners in building safer, cleaner and better-managed neighbourhoods.”
She said KYP’s approach is centred on accountable local government, community partnerships and sustainable economic development.
Looking Ahead
Rodrigues says her vision is to use the successful business network established through ZAP HUB to connect verified businesses with township communities, helping to improve service delivery, stimulate local enterprise and attract investment.
“ZAP HUB was created to make it easier for South Africans to access trusted and compliant businesses. We now want to extend those same networks into townships and underserved communities, ensuring that residents have access to quality services while creating new opportunities for businesses to give back and grow.”
As Johannesburg prepares for the 2026 Local Government Elections, Rodrigues says her campaign will focus on practical leadership, transparency, stronger partnerships between government and business, and tangible improvements in the daily lives of residents.
