MortgageMarket, a fintech company and a marketplace for home loans, has announced a landmark industry development becoming the first company to launch an AI agent to solve the administrative task of data capturing of home loan applications by customers, bond originators and bankers.
This milestone might fundamentally change one of the most time-consuming parts of the home loan application process. Instead of manually capturing the information required for an application, customers and mortgage originators can upload the relevant supporting documents. ZeroCapture extracts the required information and automatically populates the entire home loan application within seconds. This cuts data capture from around 40 minutes to just two minutes according to the group.
The launch comes as AI moves rapidly from experimentation to practical application across financial services. PwC’s 2026 analysis of the banking sector found that 58% of banking leaders expect GenAI and agentic AI to have the greatest transformative impact on their industry over the next three years, yet only 10% describe their organisation’s current technology as leading-edge in AI integration.
ZeroCapture puts that shift into practice, applying AI to a real-world administrative challenge in the home loan process.

“Our mission has always been to improve the mortgage industry through innovation and technology. AI has now given us the opportunity to solve one of the most administratively intensive tasks of the home loan process: data capture. We are proud to have solved this with ZeroCapture,” said Tim Akinnusi, CEO of MortgageMarket.
The benefits of ZeroCapture extend across all industry participants in the home-buying ecosystem.
For bankers and mortgage originators, the potential impact is significant. Reducing data capture from around 40 minutes to just two minutes gives originators valuable time back to focus on serving more buyers and growing their businesses.
For homebuyers, it removes a cumbersome administrative step from what is already one of the biggest financial transactions of their lives, giving them more time to focus on their property purchase and understand the home loan journey ahead. Estate agents also stand to benefit from a more efficient home loan process for their buyers.
The launch follows another significant milestone for MortgageMarket. The company recently became the first mortgage originator in 25 years to secure direct contracts with all of South Africa’s major banks.
MortgageMarket’s proprietary technology is scalable and is positioned to support the next phase of industry growth, one defined by access, transparency and collaboration.

Securing direct access to South Africa’s major banks was a significant milestone for MortgageMarket. ZeroCapture is the next step in how we intend to use technology to make the home loan journey faster and simpler,” said Akinnusi.
