The Royal Elephant Hotel has gone on auction.
The developer and one of the shareholders of this grandeur hotel, Chris Smith, called it
his “love project”, especially after developing the likes of Forever Resorts, Midstream Estate, Midlands Estate, Eldo Park (where the hotel is located) and Eldoglen. The hotel is situated adjacent to the Hennops River overlooking the Zwartkops Nature Reserve.

Since the development and opening of the Royal Elephant Hotel in 2010 by the Bondev
Group, when a German media crew booked mostly the entire place for six weeks during the Soccer World Cup, this 40-room grand hotel brings hospitality, attracting guests
from around the globe, including presidents, diplomats, and international sports teams.
Boasting a 78% occupancy level, the hotel has long been the preferred choice for
illustrious guests such as President Cyril Ramaphosa and Derick Watts, presenter on Carte Blanche. The late Beaulah Vari, an interior decorator who also played a role in the look and feel of the Palace of the Lost City Hotel at Sun City was also involved. Beaulah passed away more than a decade ago, but her contribution to the North African and Moroccan
experience of elegance and grace for all visitors at the hotel, has remained.

Boasting a 78% occupancy level, the Royal Elephant Hotel will have you in awe from
the moment you step into the majestic lobby, adorned with intricate décor and
impeccable craftsmanship.

Each of the 40 rooms is designed to provide the utmost comfort and sophistication, ensuring a restful stay.
One of the most distinctive features of the Royal Elephant Hotel is the presence of a
tranquil chapel on-site, offering a sanctuary for spiritual reflection or a place to
celebrate special milestones. As the shareholders and management team embark
on a new journey, they have announced that they are in the process of obtaining a gaming license.

After a few decades in the construction and development industry, Gert and
co-shareholder, Eddie van den Bergh, are now both ready for retirement.

“We feel confident that with its established reputation, prime location, and ongoing expansion plans, investing in our esteemed establishment promises substantial returns and
long-term growth potential,” said Gert.

The auction date for this hotel is on June 19 2024 at 11:00 at Masingita House , 41
West Street , Houghton Estate , Johannesburg, Gauteng.
