SOUTH AFRICA
REdimension Capital has announced the final close of the REdimension Real Estate Technology & Sustainability Fund I with total aggregate commitments exceeding R250m. This milestone signifies a robust vote of confidence in the fund’s mission to drive innovation and sustainability in the built environment through strategic investment in early-stage proptech companies. It also endorses the fund’s differentiated platform model, which enables mutual value creation for real estate corporates, financial investors and technology companies, REdimension said.
In this second and final close, the fund secured commitments from new investors in jSE-listed Hyprop Investments and RDC Property Group, alongside increased commitments from select existing investors.
“The new investors complement an already highly strategic investor base that includes Burstone Group, Growthpoint Properties, Rand Merchant Bank, Liberty Two Degrees and Sphere Holdings, amongst others. Together, these investors control more than 750 commercial real estate buildings and over 12-million square metres of lettable space across multiple sectors,” REdimension said.
“We are incredibly grateful to our investors for their trust and support,” said Peter Clark and Matthew Marshall, co-founders of REdimension Capital. “Their commitment has enabled us to position the fund as a leading catalyst for digital transformation in the property sector, and value creation for all stakeholders,” they said.
Since the first close in July 2023, the fund has built a diverse, high-potential portfolio of companies operating at the intersection of property, technology, and sustainability, it said. These include:
- Admyt – a ticketless parking and mobility solution (including Mallpass, a digital in-mall companion);
- RE-Tec Solutions – a tenant lifecycle and property management platform;
- The Good People Data Company – an onboarding, workflow, compliance and data-as-a-service platform;
- Rode Publications and Media – a holistic real estate market intelligence and analytics platform; and
- Roomking – a platform connecting landlords and tenants in the informal rental market.
Now fully capitalised, the fund enters a decisive execution phase, backed by a mature network of strategic investors and a robust pipeline of early-stage technologies that align with its core themes, Clark said.
“Alongside new capital deployment, REdimension Capital is committed to deep value creation within its portfolio. It will continue to work closely with founders, leveraging its sector knowledge and networks, and drawing on the operational reach of its investment partners to build enduring, high-growth businesses capable of scaling across South Africa and into broader markets,” Clark said.
“We believe that real transformation happens where capital, innovation and collaboration intersect,” said Clark and Marshall. “Our approach is to actively partner with our portfolio, not only through funding but through unlocking growth opportunities across the real estate value chain,” they said.
